Colour, curiosity and considered design bloom at Geranium’s East End pop-up

A colourful new retail destination has arrived in Adelaide’s East End, with Geranium opening on Rundle Street East as a limited-time pop-up celebrating thoughtful design, independent makers and the joy of discovering something unexpected.

Founded by South Australian Kimberlee Brown, Geranium is the result of a dramatic career change after almost 30 years in accounting. What began as a long-held dream has become a vibrant lifestyle store bringing together contemporary homewares, artisan gifts, stationery, jewellery, fresh floristry and design-led pieces sourced from Australia and around the world.

Rather than simply filling shelves, every product has been carefully selected to inspire, delight and become part of everyday life.

“I’ve always believed the things we buy for our homes should have personality. They should make you smile, spark a conversation or simply make an ordinary Tuesday feel a bit more fabulous,” Brown said.

“After nearly 30 years in accounting, I wanted to build something entirely different, a place filled with beautiful, joyful things from brands and makers I genuinely love. Geranium isn’t about selling stuff. It’s about helping people find pieces they’ll treasure, gifts they’ll be ridiculously excited to give and creating a shopping experience that’s actually fun.”

 

Now complete with a dedicated floristry offering, Geranium reflects Brown’s belief that flowers, gifts and beautiful objects naturally belong together. “Flowers, thoughtful gifts and beautiful objects all have the same job – they make people feel good,” she said. “I wanted Geranium to feel less like a shop and more like wandering through the home of that friend with fabulous taste who always knows where she found that vase.”

The colourful store has found its home in Rundle Street East ahead of Geranium’s future permanent move to the Adelaide Central Market.

“Who doesn’t love Rundle Street East? It has a wonderful energy – a mix of independent retail, great restaurants and bars that makes people want to linger rather than simply shop,” Brown said.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the warmth of the welcome from neighbouring retailers, locals and the wider community. It already feels like home.

“I still remember spending weekends shopping at iconic stores like Bauhaus and Bimbo with friends, so it feels a little surreal to now have Geranium on the same street alongside brands like Gorman, Hommey, Assembly Label and Victoria & Woods. “I’m incredibly grateful to the Maras Group for believing in Geranium and welcoming us into the precinct. It’s the perfect home for this chapter as we build towards our permanent store in the Adelaide Central Market.”

Designed to encourage visitors to slow down and explore, Geranium is colourful, playful and full of unexpected finds. “I want people to exhale, have a laugh and leave feeling happier than when they walked in,” Brown said.

“One of the best parts of Geranium has been watching complete strangers become regulars and regulars become friends. Mostly though, I’m excited to keep building a store people recommend with ridiculous enthusiasm.”
